ARTICLE 4 OF 6
Before leaving the ship, preserve the passenger ticket, booking confirmation, itinerary, cabin number, ship name, sailing dates, excursion documents, receipts, photographs, and communications with the cruise line.
Report the incident and obtain the report number. Request medical care and copies of shipboard medical records. If the injury requires treatment ashore, keep the foreign medical records and transportation documents.
Photograph the scene and identify witnesses. Ask independent passengers for personal phone numbers and email addresses. Record the names or descriptions of crew members who responded.
If the incident involves an assault or serious crime, seek immediate medical and emotional support, request law-enforcement notification, and ask that relevant surveillance footage be preserved.
Do not discard emails or app notices after returning home. The cruise line may communicate through an app that later becomes inaccessible, so save screenshots of relevant information.
Have the ticket contract reviewed promptly for written-notice requirements, suit deadlines, and forum-selection provisions. Do not assume the ordinary limitations period applies.
